  • Participating in shadowing experiences with CREPS offers many benefits to our students. Our dedicated healthcare professionals are committed to the education and early exposure of students to the healthcare field. We strive to deliver amazing experiences with the best doctors in Puerto Rico.

  • With our insurance policy, students are protected in case of instrument breakage or accidents that may occur during the experience which ensures their safety.

  • At CREPS, we maintain a fair and transparent process offering equal opportunities to all individuals aged 18 and above who are interested in participating.

  • Additionally, we provide students with a certificate that should be taken on the day of their experience to have it signed by the healthcare professional. Moreover, subject to availability we may offer select freebies with our brand to enhance and make a more memorable experience.

By becoming a subscriber, you will receive a monthly email featuring the latest available experiences that have not been filled. In the event of cancellations, you will be notified about newly available slots. Subscribers are given priority to secure a vacant space in their desired experience.

The form will ask for your CV, a brief statement of interest, valid ID, class schedule (if you’re on a gap year, include your diploma or write a document stating that you have already graduated), and evidence of COVID-19 vaccination.

One of the most important requisites in the application for our shadowing experiences is a curriculum vitae (CV). A curriculum vitae is a document that displays information about your education, work and/or research experiences, skills, languages, publications, presentations, leadership positions, contact details, and any other information you may consider relevant. In short, it is your professional profile.

Students over 18 years are welcome to apply. This includes and is not limited to: undergraduate students, gap-year students, master’s or doctoral students, medical students, and students from other graduate schools.

Our applications are open year-round and received on a daily basis. To increase your likelihood of acceptance, we recommend submitting your application as early as possible. The best times to apply are at the beginning of August and December. We advise submitting your application one month in advance of the intended month you wish to participate.

  • Our admissions interns will reach out to you via text message using the phone number provided in your application and offer you several available dates.
  • However, in order to secure your participation, it is crucial to promptly complete and submit the required documents that will be sent to your email. Failure to submit the documents before the specified deadline will result in the cancellation of your reserved space.

Yes, you can apply for all the experiences you are interested in. You will need to fill out separate applications for each experience, but you can use the same documents for all applications.

  • Yes, you can participate again. You do not need to fill out the application form again. Just contact our admissions interns who communicated with you to reserve your spot and express your interest in participating again. We will gladly offer you the available dates.
  • However, if you want to participate with another doctor, you will have to fill out a separate application form.

The response times may vary depending on the volume of applications received on a weekly basis. Overall, we do not reject applications; we prioritize and select the most qualified candidates first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Reserving a Spot

You have 24 hours to ensure that the spot is not offered to another candidate. After the 24-hour period, we will proceed to contact the next candidates on the list. However, if the space gets filled, we can offer you alternative available dates.

After reserving your spot, you will receive an email with all the details.

  • Evidence of a suggested donation of $10 is required for participation.

  • Complete participation documents provided by CREPS.

  • For Dr. Betsy Colón: Health Certificate, Good Conduct Certificate (https://servicios.pr.gov), and Vaccination Record.

  • For Dr. Derik Marrero and Dr. Luis Escola: Vaccination Record, Evidence of Influenza Vaccination (within the last 12 months), Evidence of COVID-19 Vaccination, Good Conduct Certificate (https://servicios.pr.gov), Photo ID, completion of required documents by Hospital Wilma Vazquez, and completion of the “Application Shadow” document by your primary physician.

 

Preferably black or dark-colored scrubs.

After Reserving A Spot

Please contact us as soon as possible. If we do not receive the documents, we will cancel your shadowing experience.

  • While we make every effort to ensure the experiences, we can’t guarantee it. We acknowledge that our experiences depend on the availability of healthcare professionals. Despite our constant communication and coordination, unforeseen circumstances can arise to our team of healthcare professionals.

  • In such cases, we prioritize the affected students and offer them priority access to any of our available experiences without the need for a donation, as we understand the importance and commitment of providing a fair and fulfilling experience.

In any of the cases, note that donations made towards the experience are non-refundable. We highly recommend honoring your commitment once you have reserved your spot to ensure fairness to other applicants, and our team, and maintain the integrity of the selection process.

  • If there is a need to cancel a reservation for a scheduled date, please inform us as soon as possible to allow for appropriate adjustments.

  • In the event that you are unable to submit the necessary documents, we will cancel your experience.

  • If you happen to miss an experience despite having submitted the required documents, this might have a negative impact on future applications for other experiences.
